This rare early work by Conrad Martens depicts Trevallyn, the property of Mr George Townshend. The property is located on the Paterson River, in the Hunter Valley of N.S.W., and was the site of one of the earliest wine vineyards in the region. This is one of three watercolours depicting his property that was purchased by Townshend in 1837 and related works are held in the National Gallery of Victoria and the State Library of N.S.W..
