Anthony Smerdon Biography

<
ANTHONY SMERDON will be presenting a collection of finely crafted models (approx 30 cm high) all inspired by classical antiquity and the Renaissance.

These elegant and refined sculptural models are inspired by the 17th and 18th century Grand Tours. During these lavish tours Europe's wealthy were able to indulge themselves in the cultural legacy of classical antiquity and the Renaissance. Acquiring objects was a necessary part of the tour and upon returning home were put on display in libraries, drawing rooms and in purpose built galleries to give the traveller an air of worldliness, sophistication and prestige.
