Rare Russian Easter Egg

Russian Egg

An exceedingly rare Russian Imperial Porcelain Easter Egg, circa 1900,
with cipher of Empress Alexandra Fedorova (1872-1918) beneath a
Russian Imperial Crown.

These eggs were produced in strictly limited quantities at the Imperial
Porcelain Factory in St Petersburg, for presentation by the Tsar and Trarina.

Prisoner of war pieces, Boer War

A rare group of prisoner of war hand made implements, Boer War,
circa 1902.

These finely hand worked pieces were made by H.S. Havenga
while he was a prisoner of war on St Helena. They consist of a
small working plane made of wood and metal, several spoons
and needlework tools carved from bone. Several are inscribed
and dated.

Stanhope Viewer in the form of binoculars (Aust)

Binoculars

An exceedingly rare Australian Stanhope Viewer in the form of a
pair of binoculars. The scenes depicted are that of the House of
Parliament (Melb) and Emerald Hill Orphan Asylum (Richmond).

Wendts Australian (Silversmiths)

Wendt

The following fine group of castings and moulds was used by Wendts,
the Adelaide Silversmiths during the Nineteenth Century in the
manufacture of trophy and presentation pieces.

They were integral in the production of silver presentation Emu Egg
groups and are extremely important as they help further the knowledge
of the processes undertaken by the working silversmiths of the time.
Several of these pieces are illustrated in J.B. Hawkins, Nineteenth
Century Australian Silversmiths (Antique Collectors Club, England, 1990)
and they have come directly from the collection of Mr Timothy Wendt.
